Masjid
al-Noor is a non-profit organization, supported mainly by generous donations.
We are working towards making the masjid self-sufficient through income
from the Islamic school, residential properties, and various activities
and events, but expanding and adding to these facilities also requires money.
Donations are tax-deductible, and checks can be made out to the address
above. Jazakum Allahu khair (may Allah reward you).
The
Islamic Center of South Bay - L.A. (ICSB) was established in October of
1982 by a group of families living in the South Bay area of Southern California.
The initial programs were conducted at the courtyard Mall Community Room
of Rolling Hills Estates. When the attendance increased, the Center moved
to the rental facilities of YMCA in Torrance, California. Later, another
move was made to Hermosa Beach Community Center. Presently the Islamic Center
is situated at 25816 Walnut Street, Lomita, California, which was acquired
in 1985.
Ever since the masjid was established, the South Bay has grown substantially.
There are now families that live around the center, and several Muslim owned
businesses have opened up in the area. The masjid land has also expanded
considerably. The prayer hall accommodates approximately 150 people. The
Islamic center has a library, four classrooms, one office, one covered patio,
four bathrooms, wudu facilities, and a kitchen. In addition, in 1988 an
adjoining lot that faces Pacific Coast Highway and has an area of 6,000
square feet. In 1997, the sister's section was expanded by re-locating the
kitchen. The newest addition to the Center was added in July of 2002, increasing
the Center's lot space by over 25,000 square feet, for a total area of 45,758
square feet.
